As an academic adviser for the LAS College I have a variety of advising roles:
- I advise Open Option students, helping undecided students transition into college life and explore the many majors and career paths offered at ISU.
- I advise International Studies second majors and minors. This is a very attractive and individualized enhancement for many students who are interested in all things global.
- I advise Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration students. This unique major allows students who love art and science to pursue goals in either area, including graduate study in medical illustration. I also co-coordinate the freshmen learning community for the major and truly enjoy watching these visual communicators grow.
- I advise all International Exchange and National Student Exchange students studying abroad here at ISU who have a major that falls within the LAS College.
I am also the Orientation Coordinator for the LAS College, with the help of a great team of colleagues. We coordinate academic programming to ensure that our incoming freshmen and transfer students start their experience well.
I have training in Mental Health First Aid and First Aid CPR/AED.
My degrees are in English (B.A.-ISU 2007) and Interdisciplinary Studies: World Cinema (M.A.-ISU 2010). As a graduate student I taught Globalization and the Human Condition (ANTHR 230) for one semester and Music Rock ‘n Roll History (MUSIC 304) for three semesters.
In my other life I am a musician constantly inspired by art, culture, film, and nature and my musical influences/styles range from folk to jazz to soul and blues. I have produced five albums of original music, and am currently working on another to be released in the very near future.
